When Should You Update Your Social Media Platforms

Perhaps the most frequently asked question I get asked about social media is when should or alternatively, when shouldn't I update my blog and other social media marketing platforms?
A great question.  Certainly there is some information on this but beyond the research it's important also to say that despite the data giving clear guidelines you must always remember that your target market may not be typical of the users on that platform and a s such you still need to use a little trial and error to ensure you're getting it just right for your brand.

Certainly each platform is a little different and as well as that, the other complicating factor is that some of you will be targeting other regions other than where you are based that have different times of day and therefore this also needs to be factored in and adjusted for, thereby ensuring that the value of the research is able to be adapted to your specific circumstances.

In a recent Hubspot blog post on ref:
http://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/best-times-post-pin-tweet-social-media-infographic
some useful time related data was made available for each of the major social media platforms.

This included:

Best times for:

Facebook:
  12-1 pm Saturday and Sunday
    3-4 pm Wednesday
    1-4 pm Thursday and Friday

Twitter:
12-3pm Monday to Friday
   5-6pm Wednesday

LinkedIn:
7.30-8.30am Tuesday to Thursday
        12-1 pm Tuesday to Thursday
        5- 6pm   Tuesday to Thursday

Pinterest:
2-4am Everyday and evening hours 7pm to 12am
Friday also 5pm to 6pm

Instagram:
Monday to Thursday  Anytime except 3 pm to 4 pm

However despite this information about when to put up new updates the key still remains to put up quality material that your readers, viewers and users will enjoy, use and and share with others in their networks. Ultimately the key remains quality and consistency. Good timing is a nice bonus on top of that.

Naturally to learn more about any other area of social media be sure to check for the latest dates for Victorian Chamber of commerce and Industry courses on:
So until next time, good luck and good marketing.

Daniele.
