LinkedIn Answers To Be Shut Down

LinkedIn has decided to remove its LinkedIn Answers feature, effective from the end of January 2013.
Although the reasons are not definitive, it is quite possible that the rise in popularity of the Quora website that also is a specialised Q&A service, is behind LinkedIn's decision.
Last week LinkedIn formally alerted the market stating that they would be refocusing their efforts

on the development of new and more engaging ways to share and discuss professional topics across LinkedIn.  They also went on to add that users would be able to continue to ask questions on the site by way of other LinkedIn modalities such as: LinkedIn Groups, Status Updates and its Polls function.

This announcement has also come quickly after the announcement by Facebook late last year that it too was closing down its Q&A  feature as well.

If your like me, you will have used LinkedIn Answers either as someone needing help or providing it, and through the process further enhanced your network and status as a professional.  From my perspective I'm sad to see it go.

So until next time, good luck and good marketing.
Regards,
Daniele.
